Major General Masood Ahmad Azizi is a prominent Afghan politician and academician who served as the Deputy Interior Minister for Policy and Strategy in Afghanistan. He was born in 1983 in Afghanistan and grew up in a family of intellectuals and politicians. His father was a famous and well-respected tribal leader in the region of Kandahar. Azizi received his early education in Kabul and went on to pursue higher studies in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Germany where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree.
After completing his studies, Azizi returned to Afghanistan and became involved in politics. He joined the Afghan Ministry of Interior in 2011 as an advisor and was later appointed as the youngest Deputy Interior Minister for Policy and Strategy in 2017. In this role, he was responsible for formulating policies and strategies related to law enforcement, security, and counterterrorism.
During his tenure as the Deputy Interior Minister, Azizi played a crucial role in improving the professionalism and effectiveness of the Afghan police force. He introduced several reforms aimed at enhancing the capacity and capabilities of the police force, including the implementation of community policing initiatives and the establishment of a police academy to train new recruits.
Azizi also worked closely with international partners, including the United States and NATO, to promote peace and stability in Afghanistan. He was a key player in negotiations with the Taliban and other insurgent groups aimed at ending the conflict in the country.
Just recently, Azizi successfully completed his assignment as Consul General in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. During this time, he has been instrumental in maintaining the relationship between Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates during an uncertain and volatile environment without government support.
Azizi’s contributions to Afghan politics and security have been widely recognized, and he has received numerous awards and honors for his work. He is regarded as a respected and influential figure in Afghan politics, and his leadership has been instrumental in building a safer and more secure Afghanistan.
