Sergey Likharev began his professional career after completing his Ph.D. in Physics in 1991. He worked as a research scientist, strategy management consultant, and investment project manager until 2000 when he earned his MBA from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University in the United States.

Subsequently, Sergey held key C-suite positions in manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain management. For the past decade, he served as the Vice President and a Member of the Management Board for one of the world’s largest steel manufacturing companies. Additionally, he shared his expertise as a member of the Board of Directors for a well-regarded group of seaport companies and as a lecturer for business school students.

Although Sergey’s career in logistics and supply chain management unfolded successfully, in the late 2010s, he began to grow increasingly concerned about the environmental impact of waste disposal in landfills. In 2023, driven by a deep commitment to sustainability, he decided to depart from his established career in logistics to pursue environmental causes.

Currently, he is the founder and CEO of Waste-To-En startup company whose mission is to combat the daily global dumping of 6 million tons of municipal solid waste. The company develops innovative gasification technology to convert the waste to synthesis gas and further to electricity and other useful products like fuels, lubricants, industrial gases, and various chemicals.
